Deconstruction

After the model of poets like E.E. Cummings and Pablo Neruda, I've tried to visually substantiate the theme of my poem. To be honest, such visual poetry is often trite. If this poem is trite, forgive me (and I'll forgive myself).

If we subject our words to
this jumble and tumble
they will all start
to crumble

soon we'll be
left with
nothing
at
all

  1. Don't worry about it! We love your poetry.

I'm reminded of the 1980s. One of the odd things that was going on then was that it had become cool among youth to put on an air of being bored. The result was that a fairly large percentage of a generation were quite bored (and boring).

Live life to its fullest. Savor your victories and agonize over your defeats. And don't avoid the contest. Oh, and don't feel guilty about feeling guilty.

Anyway, I'm glad to see you posting here again.

  2. I admit it. I am one who often doesn't "get" poetry, but in this case, my eyes went directly to the poem (without reading the introductory words about "visual poetry," and I read the poem, which caused me to see the visual imagry.

    Excellent!
